raining by Alistair Chong
you stand inside
you are still
dry from the rain
warm from the chill
your ears are deafened
shut away from me
oblivious to the wind
muted to the icy jawed scream
it never broke me so much
to be here outside
but today is different
today i've been tried
today my bones are shattered
my spirit's battered
and i never thought
i'd need you to hold my hand
and whisper to me
those words
but you won't dare look
not even a flicker
i stand outside
numb to the core
broken by the hail
i can't move anymore
all i can do
is let the acid in the rain
lick my battered shell
and hope you might glance my way
it never broke me so much
to be here outside
but today is different
today i've been tried
today my bones are shattered
my spirit's battered
and i never thought
i'd need you to hold my hand
and whisper to me
those words
but you won't dare look
not even a flicker
wouldn't you care to come outside
taste the cyclone in your blood
or open the door
hear the wind in your heart
or come to the window
and pretend to know who i am
i'm outside crying for you
and nothing
is all i can do
i lie here alone.
