walk your own by Alistair Chong
they walk in their own worlds
unaware
their thoughts none but their own
none to share
but they do not see
a pair of eyes
watching, watching
the steps go by
on the steps
my eyes.
i see two
in heaven to be
with the other
joy uncontained and unrestrained
a kid on a board
taken with disdain
because no one understands
its how he lives,
how he breathes.
i see the lonely girl
by the tree
wishing he'd come and hold her
to share what she's seen,
to catch tears held back.
i am.
just like her.
